Pawprints in the Snow .. February Snow Moon

This year I set myself a Personal Challenge to interpret the Full Moon each month. January's was the Wolf Moon and also my AEChallenge piece that I blogged about.

February's Full Moon is otherwise known as the Snow Moon, occuring today, February 19, 2019 @ 10:53 a.m. Atlanta (ET) time, which is where I am at the moment. We'll see it as full tonight and tomorrow night too (if no clouds). This site is my go-to for this info and the app on my phone.

Those of you who read my blog posts know that I'm away from home and starting on my 3rd year of MomCare here in the States. Mom just had her 96th birthday at the beginning of Feb. and still going strong mentally!
You also know that I frequently post about how I really miss my Sweet Cannelle too. If you have pets you know how I feel.๐Ÿ˜ฟ This Snow Moon project was inspired by pictures I took about 8 years ago of her foray into the snowy front garden and the prints she left behind. First the inspiration ....

Baby it's Cold out here! Time to return to my fireside roost.

Cannelle's Pawprints in the Snow - Don't they make your Heart Melt?
Belly Deep in the Snow under the Lilac

She only stayed out about 7 minutes and must have decided there wasn't any interesting prey under all that snow!

Here's my little inspiration piece prototype, the stamping is wonky, the riveting not great and the heart is not centered on the back! But I like the concept, just gotta perfect it ๐Ÿ˜€ ...
I used some leftover white leather I had made a white raven feather with and painted footprints that I traced from the picture above (with some editing). I cut a heart out of aluminum sheet metal, hammered, stamped, and set it with eyelets to the back of the leather.
My original plan was to make a 2-sided pendant, and add some other embellishment, but abandoned those ideas when I saw the 'uh-ohs' starting to accumulate :) .

When I went home last September I met my 'Granddog' Alphonse and, I must admit, took a liking to him. When the kids were young and said whined "I want a dog, (insert friend's name) has a dog" my first answer was OK, then go play with their dog. After the inevitable ''It's not the same'', my second retort was Then see if their family can adopt you and you'll have lots of time to play with it! Sometimes I'd tease with You can have a dog (kids get excited) ... when you're 18 and out of the house (kids snarl and deflate).
A dog didn't fit our (my) lifestyle of coming to the States every year for 4-6 weeks. I'm definitely a Cat Lover and she was/is enough for me.

Fast forward to 2017, daughter & future son-in-law did get a puppy, when she wasn't living at home. A Shiba Inu they named Alphonse. He was 1.5 years old by the time I met him. And they all lived in our house (temporarily). Cannelle was not happy, but I won't delve into that part.
Anyway, that little reveal is why I decided to make a Dog-themed stamping. He's part of the family now too! ๐Ÿ’—

I'm so Cute! Ooh, look at the muddy prints that bad Cat made! (snicker)

Daughter reports that the two are getting along just fine ... after about 16 or 17 months of co-habitation. No more hissing and he knows not to get too close! ๐Ÿ˜ผWhat do you think?
She appropriated his new bed! Seeking warmth on a Winter day ... somewhat together.
Yay, you made it to the end! Hope you enjoyed this long-ish, Cuteness Galore post.Al

  1. Sweet! I think you're going to make a lot of animal lovers' hearts go pitter-pat. Just one little thing to add to your list if you hadn't noticed: if there's anyone who doesn't get the reference immediately, the "had" might appear to read "bad".
    Miss you!

    1. Thx 'muddy' for taking the time to comment, most people go through their feed and just hit 'like' without going much further! Which 'had' are you referring to? Is it because of the type face? You can answer here or on pm fb, whichever's easier :). Al.
